Interim coach of Asante Kotoko Prince Yaw Owusu has stepped down from his role.

According to a statement from the club, Coach Yaw Owusu indicated that his decision is in the “greatest” interest of the club.

This follows a spate of bad results which have seen the Porcupine Warriors drop from third to sixth on the log.

Their last outing against Ghana Premier League leaders Medeama SC saw them going 3-0 down at half time. They conceded one more before the match ended.

“Management expresses its sincere appreciation to Coach [Owusu] for his service, dedication, and commitment during his time with the club, and wishes him the very best in his future endeavours,” the statement signed by Communications Director Samuel Sarfo Duku said.

In the interim, Youth Team Coach Hamza Obeng has been appointed to take charge of the team for the remaining games of the season.

Further arrangements shall be communicated in due course, the club said.

Asante Kotoko are currently 6th on 43 points, 10 behind the leaders.

Their next game is expected to be against Hohoe United, who have withdrawn from the 2025/26 league.
