Asante Kotoko SC have moved to second on the Ghana Premier League table after a lone-goal victory over Nsoatreman FC on Wednesday, October 2.

The match at the Len Clay Stadium was an outstanding fixture, postponed as a result of Nsoatreman FC’s campaign in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Prior to the match, both sides had only won one match apiece in the League.

The Porcupine Warriors went into the game after two draws on the bounce, having beaten Karela United in their opener.

Nsoatreman FC were also reeling from a heavy loss to Accra Lions.

After a goalless first half, luck smiled on the Porcupine Warriors in the 47th minute when a searching cross found the head of an Nsoatreman FC defender for an own goal.

A penalty appeal by the visitors deep in the second half was overlooked by the referee.

The result lifts Kotoko from the bottom half of the table to second behind Medeama SC.
