Nsoatreman FC recorded their first defeat in 2024/25 Ghana Premier League following a 3-1 loss to Accra Lions on Saturday.

The result is also Lions’ first win since the start of the season after placing second last season.

It was the first game of Matchweek 4 at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium and the first for the visitors after their preliminary round exit from the CAF Confederation Cup.

The hosts drew first blood after Faris Tahiru took advantage of a defensive blunder by Nsoatreman FC in the ninth minute.

Twenty minutes later, Ezekiel Alladoh smashed home the second goal after some beautiful footwork, extending the lead for Accra Lions.

After a 2-0 first half, Yaw Preko’s second-half pep talk to his players may have worked on them as they pulled one back after just two minutes.

Mohammed Abdul Rahman scored to give hope to the MTN FA Cup champions.

But Blessing Asuman put the game beyond the Bono side as he scored to leave the scores 3-1.

The win lifts Accra Lions from the bottom of the log to ninth, just above Saturday’s opponents.

Nsoatreman FC’s next game will be against Asante Kotoko on Wednesday in an outstanding fixture.

Accra Lions, on the other hand, will play the Porcupine Warriors in their next game.
