Head Coach of Asante Kotoko Abdul-Karim Zito has made the intentions of his club for this season known.

According to him, it is nothing less than winning the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League.

“They don’t even want to be second,” he stressed in an interview ahead of the season.

The Porcupine Warriors travel to Berekum to play Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park on Saturday, September 13.

The club last won the domestic title in 2022 under Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum.

Coach Ogum, currently the Black Starlets Head Coach, was sacked close to the end of last season after the club’s misstep to the title challenge, getting replaced by Zito.

Zito won the MTN FA Cup after seeing off Golden Kick FC in the final.

“With Asante Kotoko, [it is] nothing less than winning the league,” he said. “This is the only thing they want.”

The club will be kept busy with the CAF Confederation Cup.

However, the former player said winning the domestic title is one on top of the cards on the table.

“Aside from winning the league, there’s no other objective apart from that. This is the target we set for ourselves, that we are going to fight and win the league.

“To win the league, apart from that, nothing. Every cup we are competing for, we must win, nothing else. Because that is the end product of every good team.”
