The Ashanti North Regional Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in its ongoing efforts to combat narcotics trafficking and related criminal activities within the region.
In a statement signed by the Acting Public Relations Officer of the Ashanti North Regional Police Command, ASP Emmanuel Agbodzi, on Wednesday, April 1,2026, he said on 25th March 2026 at 10:13am day patrol team from the Offinso District intercepted a blue-black Toyota Voxy vehicle with registration number AS 1747-25 at the outskirts of Offinso Old Town, near the Offin River.
A search conducted on the vehicle revealed:
1. Three hundred and fifty (350) compressed slabs of substances suspected to be narcotic drugs (Indian hemp), concealed in four white sacks.
Additional items retrieved from the vehicle included:
(2) Two Ghana Cards (names withheld)
(3) Three driver’s licences:(names withheld)
(4) One voter’s ID card (name withheld)
(5) DVLA Vehicle Registration certificate (name withheld)
(6) One iPhone
(7) Cash GH¢120
The occupants of the vehicle, upon noticing the presence of the Police, fled the scene and escaped into a nearby bush.
The patrol team pursued the suspects but was unable to apprehend them at that time.
The exhibit vehicle and all retrieved items were subsequently conveyed to the Offinso Police Station for further investigation.
Investigation team conducted an intelligence-led operations leading to the arrest of the following individuals:
1.Albert Nkrumah (alias Abode3), aged 21
2.Francis Owusu (alias Skin), aged 25 yrs
3.Gyimah Emmanuel (alias Corruption), aged 24 yrs and
4.Theophilus Amoabeng (alias Kwadwo Amoabeng)—all drivers were arrested on 26/03/2026.

After thorough screening through identification parade, Albert Nkrumah and Francis Owusu were identified by the patrol team as part of the suspects who fled the scene on 25/03/2026.
On 26th March 2026, the Police secured a court order from the Offinso Circuit Court, presided over by Her Honour Christiana O. Bruce Ashirifie, directing the National Identification Authority (NIA), Electoral Commission (EC), and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) to provide relevant details to assist the ongoing investigations.
Subsequently, on 30th March 2026, suspects Albert Nkrumah and Francis Owusu were arraigned before the Offinso Circuit Court and have been remanded into Police custody to reappear on 27th April 2026.
Ongoing investigations has already identified some individuals also linked to the crime and the team are on their tails.
ASP Agbodzi said the suspected narcotic substances will be forwarded to the Forensic Laboratory, CID Headquarters, Accra, for analytical examination and report
He assured the public of their unwavering commitment to combating drug trafficking and ensuring the safety and security of all communities.
He further urged the public to support the Police by providing credible information to help clamp down and eliminate criminal enterprises in the region.
