The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) in the Ashanti Region has conducted a significant operation in Ahodwo, resulting in the lockdown of many Chinese shops, on Thursday, December 18,2025.

These shops were found to be selling unregistered products that fall under FDA regulations, raising concerns about public health and safety.

Officials say, they have started locking up shops found selling substandard and fake baby diapers as part of an ongoing enforcement exercise to protect public health.

The action follows earlier intelligence-led operations during which large quantities of unapproved and expired diapers were confiscated from the market.

Sources gathered from the FDA officials say, laboratory analyses conducted on the seized products disclosed that they failed safety standards and posed serious health risks to infants.

The exercise forms part of sustained efforts to remove harmful baby care products from circulation and hold offending traders accountable.
