A joint operation by the Amansie West District Assembly, Immigration, and Police officers has led to the arrest of 28 foreigners and a landlord for violating Ghana’s immigration laws.
The suspects were apprehended in a raid on their hideouts at Pakyi No.1 and No.2 in the Ashanti region.
The operation which was carried on Saturday, March 14, 2026, aimed to curb illegal immigration in the district.
Prince Manu Morris, the Amansie West District Chief Executive, cautioned landlords against renting to undocumented immigrants, stressing the need to verify tenants’ status before giving out their rooms to them.
“It’s against Ghana’s laws,” he stressed.
Manu Morris said, “We will not tolerate any form of illegal activity in our district. Landlords must take responsibility for verifying the status of their tenants.”
He assured the Assembly’s full support in fighting illegal immigration.
The arrested foreigners are currently in police custody, facing charges related to entering Ghana without proper documents.
The landlord is also facing charges for renting out his property to undocumented immigrants.
The DCE appealed to residents to report any suspicious activities to the authorities, saying, “Together, we can make our district a safe and secure place for all.”
The Amansie West District Assembly will continue to work with security agencies to enforce immigration laws.
He also called on the public to feed them with credible information to pick them at their hideouts.
