The Ghana Police Service has interdicted one of its personnel, Inspector Desmond Owusu Afriyie, over an alleged defilement and incest.
The officer, currently stationed at Mamponteng District in the Ashanti region, is being investigated by Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), Agona District, for having sex with his 14-year-old biological daughter.
The Ashanti North Regional Police Command, in a statement signed by its Acting Public Relations Officer (PRO), ASP Emmanuel Agbodzi, and issued on Saturday, May 9, 2026, it said the Inspector was reported by his wife for having sex with his own daughter.
“he complaint was lodged on 4th November, 2025 by one Charlotte Samaa of Koforidua/ER on behalf of her 14-year-old daughter, alleging that, the victim had been sexually abused by her biological father,” portions of the statement contained.
The statement continued that the victim was taken through a medical examination to ascertain the authenticity of the allegations, and to also provide evidence to aid investigations.
He reported himself to the police and got arrested. “On 20/02/2026, the Inspector reported himself at the Agona DOVVSU where he was arrested and statement on cautioned obtained from him.”
Meanwhile, Inspector Owusu Afriyie “denied the allegations and was later released on enquiry bail to be reporting periodically.”
“The Inspector is currently being interdicted to pave way for further investigation,” the statement added.
The police further assured the public that it will conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and update the public on any further developments.
