A 10-year-old boy’s hand is currently rotten following a cutlass wound inflicted on him by a prominent businessman at Mempeasem in the Assin Fosu Municipality of the Central Region.

The suspect, Nana Danso, who doubles as the proprietor of Chief Danso preparatory school is also a patron of the royal family of Assin Odumase in the Assin South District.

The victim whose name is withheld, speaking with Rich FM’s Obaapa Adwoa Benyiwaa Kwanimaa who corresponds for Onua FM indicated he was arrested by some men and was later handed to the businessman known in the area as Chief Danso after accusing him of stealing his scraps.

The victim whose rotten hand is currently wrapped in a rug stressed that the suspect after threatening to cut off his hands, put the hand on a cement block, pulled up a cutlass, and raised it high in the sky in an attempt to cut.

Out of fear and dismay, the victim grabbed the cutlass which the suspect forcefully pulled, resulting in cutting 2 of the middle fingers.

He noted that before then, the suspect had pinned him onto the floor with his legs firmly tapping his chest for several minutes.

He admitted that the death of his mother and the absence of his father whom he has never had a glimpse of before forced him to deal in scraps to fend for himself, adding that he sometimes eats with the help of benevolent individuals.

Stepmother of the victim, 23-year-old Emmanuella Addo explained to Obaapa that the family had not been able to send the victim to the hospital for the past two weeks due to financial difficulties.

According to her, the grandmother who is taking care of the boy is unemployed. She, therefore, solicited public support and justice for the innocent boy because he is battling to sustain his life.

The suspect, Nana Danso, admitted the offence saying he is prepared to bear the cost of the medical bills and other related consumables though he did not intend to cause affliction to the boy.

According to him, his anger was born out of the boy’s frequent stealing which he has been a victim. He told Obaapa in an interview.
