Counsel for Oliver Barker-Vormawor, Nana Ato Dadzie, has admitted that one of the two statements attributed to his client about bribery allegations against the Appointments Committee of Parliament was truly authored and posted by him.

But he says he was only performing a whistleblower’s role by putting to the public, what he had heard from certain quarters which he believed did not serve the nation’s democracy well.

Barker-Vormawor’s counsel had however, denied his client’s knowledge of the second allegation which suggested that NDC members of the committee take monies from nominees before vetting and approving them.

Nana Ato Dadzie, speaking before the Appointments Committee of Parliament Wednesday, January 29, 2025, quoted the second statement tabled on the committee’s invitation and admitted it is from his client.

After denying the other statement, he quoted the first issue on the invitation that, “So all the monies the ministerial nominees are being asked to pay to the Appointments Committee just to get approved, are those ones not affected by ORAL? Strange Republic”, adding that “Mr. Chairman, we want to say that, yes, this is a post from Mr. Vormawor which he put up on his Facebook and X, formerly Twitter account.”

He, however, explained that the post was not directed at the committee but meant to make an exposition on what had come to his notice based on the Whistleblower’s Act.

The former Chief of Staff under former President Rawlings explained further that such deeds as authored and posted by his client might have been acts stemming from persons other than those on the Appointments Committee.

“The point of that statement is that, it was not directed at the Appointments Committee in any way. But only intended to expose certain matters and materials that had come to his notice, allegedly that some people are apparently on the back of the Appointments Committee, doing other acts which may not enhance….,” he stated.
