The Accra Regional Police Command says investigations into the building collapse at Avenor, opposite Melcom Plus in the Industrial Area, Accra, are ongoing, with several state institutions conducting technical assessments to determine the cause of the incident.
The collapse, which occurred on June 7, 2026, claimed the lives of three people and left one other person seriously injured.
The injured victim is currently receiving medical treatment.
In a statement, the Police said they have engaged relevant state institutions to assist with investigations and establish whether the collapse resulted from structural defects or other contributing factors.
The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Architectural and Engineering Services Limited (AESL), and other relevant agencies are collaborating to assess the structural integrity of the affected building as well as adjoining structures.
According to the Police, these technical and regulatory bodies will determine the appropriate course of action, including whether neighbouring buildings should be demolished or declared unsafe.
Meanwhile, Moro Badaru, who was arrested in connection with the incident on June 13, 2026, has been granted police enquiry bail and is assisting with ongoing investigations.
The Accra Regional Police Command assured the public that anyone found to have acted negligently or in breach of the law will be held accountable.
The Command also appealed to the public to remain calm and refrain from speculation while investigations and technical assessments continue.
