Six persons have picked nomination forms to participate in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primary in Ayawaso East ahead of the March 3 by-election.

The aspirants include; Mohammed Ramme, the party’s constituency chairman; Baba Jamal, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria; Dr. Yakubu Azindow; and Hajia Amina Adam, the late Member of Parliament’s widow.

The rest are Najib Mohammed Sani and Salam Daru.

The NDC’s Deputy Director of Elections and IT, Rashid Tanko Computer disclosed this in an interview with Citi News.

“At the close of nominations today, six persons picked nomination forms to contest the upcoming primaries. The wife of the late MP was the last person to pick nominations today. It is going to be a very interesting contest. The filing will be on the January 27 which is Tuesday.

“We are waiting to see how many of them will bring their forms,” he said.

The aspirants will be required to submit the forms on Tuesday January 27, for subsequent vetting on January 28.

The poll is to elect a replacement in Parliament for Mahama Naser Toure who died on January 4 after a short illness.

Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission (EC) has fixed Tuesday, March 3, 2026, for the conduct of a parliamentary by-election in the Ayawaso East Constituency following the death of the sitting Member of Parliament, Mahama Naser Toure.
