Paul Alale Agobiri would be representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bawku Central constituency after emerging victorious in the party’s primary with just a single vote.

The Saturday January 27, 2024, polls ended with Mr. Agobiri securing 176 votes against his closest contender, Mohammed Tahiri Tambe’s 175.

Amadu Mogtar Bagya followed the duo with 163 votes leaving Mahmud Issah Zakary with a 102 votes.

Salifu Bashiru and Abganwa Gabiana Abugri also obtained 35 and 33 votes respectively.

This makes Paul Alale Agobiri the candidate to secure victory with the least number of seats in the NPP parliamentary primaries.

Bawku Central is one of the orphan constituencies of the New Patriotic Party but could not hold their primary in 2023 due to some security concerns in the area.  They had to postpone the polls to today along with the constituencies where the party is having incumbent MPs.

Somewhere in the Greater Accra region, Emmanuel Tobin has unseated the representative of the Anyaa Sowutuom constituency, Adomako Kissi.

The delegates according to sources rejected the MP for the lack of development in the area, leaving them with one of the poorest road networks in the Greater Accra region.
