The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has consulted the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSG) as part of his stakeholder engagements.

He met the leadership of the Society at the PSG House in Accra on Friday, October 24, 2026.

The engagement, according to a statement from his office, was to listen directly to the Society on measures to transform Ghana into West Africa’s pharmaceutical production hub.

During the meeting, Dr Bawumia was briefed on critical needs in the sector including boosting domestic manufacturing, streamlining regulatory processes, improving support for pharmacists and fostering public-private partnerships.

The NPP flagbearer has in recent weeks held similar consultations with various professional bodies and trade groups as part of his policy development ahead of the 2028 elections.
