The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Vice-President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has paid a visit to renowned gospel singer Yaw Sarpong who is currently battling stroke.

Dr. Bawumia visited the gospel musician during his tour of the Ashanti Region on Tuesday, June 11 together with NPP’s Ashnati Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako.

The visit was to check up on the health of the renowned gospel singer

“Hearing of your plight, I informed my boss [Dr. Bawumia] and he said although the visit was not part of his campaign plan, he will make time to visit you, greet you and check on your health before he continues with his campaign,” Chairman Wontumi said during the visit.

Others accompanying the Vice-President were National chairman of the party, Stephen Ntim Ayensu and singer Nicholas Omane Acheampong.

A post on X by EDHUB claimed that the Vice-President donated a sum of GH¢100,000 to support Yaw Sarpong’s ill-heath.

A couple of months ago, Yaw Sarpong’s manager confirmed that the artiste was battling stroke.

In an interview with Ghanaweb, Nana Poku Ashis disclosed that Yaw Sarpong had been ill for a over a year.

“He has been bedridden for over a year now. It started around this time last year. It was really bad when it happened a year ago, but we are hoping that he will regain his strength in the coming months,” he stated.

“Everyone needs help. We would need prayers and those who have and we are willing to help can offer him a little. The few people he has impacted with his music should also help,” he added.
