Executive Committee members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Constituency have petitioned the party’s national and regional leadership to immediately annul the ongoing Electoral Area Executive Committee Elections.

They have cited what they describe as widespread irregularities, constitutional violations, and the disenfranchisement of qualified party members.

In a petition dated June 14, the executives outlined several concerns they believe have compromised the credibility and integrity of the electoral process.

Among their key allegations is the conduct of what they describe as an unauthorized re-vetting exercise for Electoral Area Coordinator aspirants in the Bekwai Zone, including Mmerewa/Nkronua, Asawinso, Beposo/Nkatieso, Awaso, and Asempanaye.

According to the petitioners, the exercise lacked approval from the Constituency Executive Committee and the then Regional Representative, Samuel Kofi Abbiaw.

The petition further alleges that conflicting vetting lists and notices of poll were subsequently issued by different party officials, resulting in confusion and the disqualification of several aspirants.

While one list reportedly excluded aspirants who failed to attend the re-vetting exercise, another list issued by the Regional Representative recognized all aspirants who had fulfilled their dues obligations and met party requirements.

The executives noted that following public concerns and appeals to the party leadership, the elections were temporarily suspended pending the development of a clear roadmap for resolving the disputes.

However, they contend that the suspension was later lifted without any comprehensive explanation or documented resolution being communicated to the Constituency Executive Committee.

According to the petition, elections commenced on June 13, 2026, in several zones including Bethlehem, Basengele, and Lineso.

The petitioners claim the process was characterized by confusion, inadequate supervision, and the disqualification of some aspirants despite evidence of dues payments made directly to the National Secretariat.

The petition also alleges that elections conducted on June 14, 2026, across several Electoral Areas encountered significant resistance from party members and local communities, who questioned the fairness of the process.

The executives claim that only the Akaasu Electoral Area conducted a peaceful and credible election because all qualified candidates were allowed to contest.

Additionally, the petition raises concerns about alleged irregularities in the management of election results, including claims that elections were not conducted in some polling stations despite names being entered into the results system.

The petitioners argue that the developments constitute violations of provisions of the NPP Constitution governing electoral processes, the powers of Constituency Executive Committees, and the rights of party members in good standing.

As part of their prayers, the executives are requesting:

• The immediate annulment of all Electoral Area Executive Committee Elections conducted in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Constituency.

• Direct supervision of any fresh electoral process by the National Leadership of the party.

• The issuance of a clear written roadmap to resolve all outstanding disputes before any new elections are conducted.

• Enhanced transparency in the management and entry of election results.

• The reinstatement of all qualified aspirants who possess valid evidence of dues payment.

The petition also recommends an independent audit of the vetting process, the neutral management of election results systems, mandatory engagement between party officials and the Constituency Executive Committee, and disciplinary action against individuals found to have breached party regulations.

The petitioners say their objective is to safeguard the unity, credibility, and electoral prospects of the party in the constituency ahead of future elections.
