The Member of Parliament for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Constituency, Bright Asamoah Brefo, has donated a Nissan Navara pickup worth GHC600,000 to the Ghana Police Service (Division) in the municipality to enhance security operations.

The presentation, which took place at forecourt of the Municipal Assembly, aims at improving the mobility of police personnel and strengthening their capacity to respond promptly to crime and emergencies across the constituency.

Speaking at the event, Mr Bright Asamoah Brefo acknowledged the logistical challenges facing the police, particularly in the and municipality. He noted that the donation forms part of his commitment to supporting security agencies to effectively maintain law and order.

According to him, the availability of the vehicle will significantly improve patrol activities, increase police visibility, and help deter criminal activities within the municipality.

Residents in parts of the constituency have previously expressed concerns about delays in police response due to a lack of transport and difficult terrain. The intervention is therefore expected to ease these challenges and improve public safety.

The MP also used the opportunity to call on other stakeholders to support the police with logistics to ensure a secure environment for development.

Divisional commander of the Ghana Police Service in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality, ACP Sampson Agbeko who received the vehicles described the gesture as timely, he stressed that lack of vehicle has been a major challenge and for that matter this will go a long way to strengthen.

“On behalf of the Inspector General of police (IGP) and the Regional Commander and POMA Members, I sincerely express my gratitude to our MP for providing this robust Nissan Navara for the Division. Lack of vehicles has been one of the major challenges in the Division.

Fighting crime is very important with logistics. This vehicle will enhance fighting crime on our highways especially on our high prone crime areas,” he said.

He further appealed to the MP to use his office to put up an edifice for the Service on the Divison’s parcel of land given to them by the Paramount chief of Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai

“MP, permit me to behave like Oliver twist to ask for more,we have a parcel of land at Kwamekrom it is our wish that you will use your good office and the MCE to provide an edifice for the security,” he requested.

Responding to this call, the MP assured that plans are far advanced to move them from where they are to a new place.

“I believe that by one and half years you will move to a new edifice,” he assured.
