Ghana’s U-20 women’s football team, the Black Princesses, came from a goal down to beat their Nigerian counterparts 2-1 in the final of women’s football at the ongoing African Games.

The final between the West African rivals on Thursday, March 21 was played at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

After a first-half strike by the Nigerians, Yusif Basigi’s charges came into the second half rejuvenated with Tracy Twum restoring parity with less than 20 minutes to go.

The equalizer forced the match into extra time.

Goal poacher Mukarama Abdulai silenced her critics as she scored with a strike from outside the penalty area to secure the win for Ghana.

The win gives Ghana Gold in women’s football at the Games.

The men will also play Uganda Friday night for the ultimate medal.

A win for the men will be unprecedented for the hosts as it will secure both Gold medals in football at the Games.
