The Black Stars were held to 1-1 draw by Niger in the second 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier played in the host country, Morocco.
The Stars broke the deadlock with a minute to end the first half at the Stade Municipal de Berkane.
Rennes defender Alidu Seidu’s attempt on goal surprisingly beat the Nigerien goalie to give the four-time champions a 1-0 lead at the break.
Despite being on the backfoot, the Nigeriens made good a corner kick conceded by substitute Brandon Thomas-Asante late in the second half.
The Ghanaian defence was caught in sixes and sevens as Oumar Sako took advantage to fire in the needed equalizer.
The match ended 1-1.
Ghana will next play Sudan in a home-and-away tie before wrapping up with Angola and Niger in November.
Niger, on the other hand, will engage Angola in the next two games before hosting Sudan and travelling to Ghana to wrap up their qualifiers.
By Monday’s results, Angola top the Group with 3 points ahead of their home game against Sudan, who are second.
Ghana remain third with Niger bottom of Group F.
