Former Black Stars forward Yaw Preko has given his assessment of the current team so far at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.

Ghana have played two games so far, managing just a point from those games.

The four-time champions were beaten 1-2 by Cape Verde but recovered to draw 2-2 with record winners Egypt on Thursday, January 18.

Speaking on the performance of the team on Onua FM

‘s Sports Center on Monday, January 22, Yaw Preko said this is the best the players can give of themselves.

He said too much expectations have been put on the team.

“Some may say the way the players are playing is intentional but I believe this is the best the player can give and whether you push it or not, this is the best.

“Let’s take this tournament, I believe one of our weakest points on the field is right back.

“Our right back is 34 years and he has to play every game every four days. It is too much on him.”

But the former Anderlecht man says the Belgium-based player should not be blamed and he is using his experience in the tournament.

Ghana will play Mozambique in their final group game Monday night for a place at the Round of 16 of the tournament.
