To assume the filing of nomination to contest the parliamentary candidate of a constituency is the end of making it to the House of Legislature is a joke, Senior Presidential Advisor, Yaw Osafo-Maafo, has advised.

He says hard work by the candidates is the only thing that can propel the party’s vision of breaking the ‘eight’.

Mr. Osafo-Maafo, who is Akyem Oda constituency NPP election committee Chairman, made the pronouncements when the Member of Parliament (MP) for Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, filed his nomination Monday, December 25, 2023.

The former Finance Minister under John Agyekum Kufuor’s administration said breaking the 8 as the party is envisaging in the 2024 general elections, needed the efforts of all party members to make it a reality.

Mr. Osafo-Maafo extolled the MP for the physical development he has brought to the constituency and urged him to continue.

He also advised Mr. Acquah and his team to run a decent campaign devoid of the use of vulgar language, insults against opponents, arrogance and complacency but strive to secure more votes to widen the margin for the presidential results.

On his part, the MP promised to work hard to increase the party’s votes in the constituency by appreciating the presidential votes from 79 per cent to 90 per cent in the upcoming polls.

He was grateful to the entire constituency NPP executives for their great support for him since becoming the MP on January 7, 2021.

He also assured of maintaining the constituency’s record of amassing the highest votes both in the presidential and parliamentary polls in the whole of the Eastern region in the next December elections.
