Captain Smart intimates the concessions being degraded by the Chinese galamsey kingpin, Aisha Huang, to do galamsey were granted her by party and government officials.
According to him, the likes of Osafo Maafo, a former Senior Minister and Presidential Advisor and Bernard Antwi Bosiako, a.k.a Wontumi, an Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, should be asked where Aisha Huang got her concessions.
Captain Smart was responding to comments made by the Lands and Natural Resources minister, Samuel Abdulai Jinapor, that chiefs should be held complicit for the increasing galamsey in the country.
According to Captain Smart, Mr. Jinapor is aware of those doing galamsey just as Otumfuo mentioned during their meeting with him.
The Asantehene had said about 30% of people who were with him in a meeting knew those engaged in illegal mining.
Captain Smart, like Otumfuo, said chiefs do not give concessions but rather the government.
“No chief gives license for galamsey or Small Scale Mining but rather the government. Ask Wontumi and Osafo-Maafo the relationship between them and Aisha Huang. I am saying he [Jinapor] knows all those doing galamsey. The 30% Otumfuo mentioned you Jinapor you were there. Your party know those doing galamsey now and you want to blame the chiefs? Who gave Aisha Huang the 12 mining concessions? Ask Wontumi the Chinese people he has been having meeting with,” he vented.
