Host of Maakye on Onua TV, Captain Smart, has said he needs 210 Military men with 3 helicopters to end galamsey in 21 days.

He says the President lacks the will and commitment to fight the menace despite the capacity being available.

According to him, he would have ordered a “shoot and kill” if he had the opportunity to lead the fight against galamsey.

“I need 210 military officers. Only the military, the police should stay back and take care of home. Then I’ll need three helicopters. When they get to the site, they should shoot and kill. Then we’ll dig a hole there and bury them in. No negotiations, nothing, because the powers behind the practice don’t go to the site. They are behind and send people to the site so if you hear that we are shooting and killing people and you’ll still go, then it’s up to you. If the president wants, he should give me that power and in 21 days if I’m not able to do it, they should burry me alive,” he said.

Since 2017, government has wasted over $400 million on galamsey but the menace is rather on the ascendency with lands and water bodies being destroyed.

President Akufo-Addo about a fortnight ago visited Kumasi and spoke with his appointees and the National House of Chiefs following cases that emerged out of Onua TV/Akoma FM’s Peoples’ Assembly.

The DCE for Bosome Freho, Yaw Danso has subsequently been suspended pending an investigation into a viral audio endorsing galamsey suspected to be his voice.

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has made several comments about the menace chastising government for giving out permit to people to mine indiscriminately, as well as chiefs who have failed to report how their water bodies and lands are being destroyed by galamsey activities.

But Captain Smart says shooting and killing would be the surest way to end the menace whilst speaking on Maakye Monday, October 17, 2022.

“Nana Addo is currently involved in galamsey. Galamsey is a 21 day work. Organise operation shoot and kill,” he said.
