Two young men have been shot to death at Dunkwa Kyekyewere in the Central Region after they allegedly attempted stealing some bags of cocoa.
Kwabena Boateng, a cocoa buyer and Assemblyman for Kyekyerwere East, shot the 16-year-old and the other, 20 years, in the shop where he buys his cocoa.
The Assemblyman says he has been on high alert for some time after 35 bags of his purchased beans were stolen from his shop.
He explains that at about 2am Wednesday, August 21, 2024, he saw some suspects attempting to break into his shop while he watched over.
When they attempted to escape upon realizing his presence, he fired a gun in their direction, hitting two of them while the third suspect escaped.
One of the victims died at the scene whilst the other died on the way to the hospital.
The assemblyman has since been arrested and is currently in police custody assisting with investigation.
