One person has been confirmed dead with nine others sustaining various degrees of injuries in an accident involving four vehicles at Eguase near Cape Coast in the Central Region.

The Ghana National Fire Service was called arrived at the scene on time when contacted and and discovered the casualties had already been rescued and sent to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.

But one of the vehicles which caught fire in the process was still smodering was extinguished by the Fire Officers.

According to eyewitness, an unregistered Mercedes Benz C300 was coming from Mankessim direction towards Cape Coast on a top speed, and tried overtaking a vehicle in front of it but ran into the Toyota Hiace with registration number CR 1177-20 which was carrying passengers towards Mankessim (opposite direction).

The Mercedes Benz veered off, burst into flames and ran into a Hyundai Taxi with registration number CR 1019-20 which was parked by the roadside, which also hit a Toyota Camry with registration number CR 463-18 that was also parked at the scene.

The Mercedes Benz burnt completely, whiles the Toyota Hiace was severely damaged with the Hyundai and Camry partially destroyed.

The Fire Rescue Team called in the Police to take custody of the salvaged items at the scene after which they cleaned the road off the blood of the victims that covered the grounds.

The deceased and the injured are at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.
