Some parents in the Central Region have expressed frustration over challenges associated with the Senior High School (SHS) placement process.
Parents who shared their concerns with OnuaNews described the process as disorderly and called for a more organized and efficient approach to addressing their grievances.
A woman resident of Kasoa, who was seeking a change of school for her child, complained about long delays in attending to them and accused officials at the office of ill-treatment.
Another parent explained that his child was placed in a distant school without a boarding facility, a situation he says he cannot allow his ward to endure due to safety and financial concerns.
Others who spoke to the news team said they arrived as early as dawn but were still stuck in long queues several hours later without being attended to.
Meanwhile, some aggrieved parents are calling on the National Secretariat for Free SHS to urgently address the situation confronting the Central Region Free SHS office.
According to the parents, the office is grappling with lack of space, inadequate logistics, and insufficient staff to handle the large numbers that troop in daily seeking placement assistance.
One parent lamented: “We’re calling on the national secretariat to do something because looking at the numbers here, we can’t get enough space to address our concerns. The office is too small for these huge numbers.”
The parents are therefore appealing to authorities to expand the facility, provide adequate logistics, and deploy more personnel to speed up the process and ease their frustrations.
