The Nifahene of New Oboase in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region, Nana Kofi Arkoh, has commended the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for returning to the area to show gratitude to them after the 2024 elections.
He said this gesture demonstrates that Mr Nketia is trustworthy.
“Asiedu Nketia is not ungrateful. He is a man of his words. He came here for prayers and support during the campaign to win the 2024 elections. Now that his wishes have been granted, he is here to thank us. You have done well by returning to show appreciation,” Nana Arkoh said.
The chief said this when the NDC National Chairman took his ‘Thank You Tour’ to the area on February 13.
Nana Arkoh used the opportunity to seek help in addressing some challenges facing the community.
“Now that you are in government, we the people of Upper Denkyira West also need help. Our main need is road. I am sure you used the Ayanfuri road enroute to this place. The Dunkwa-Ayanfuri road, you saw its poor state. The previous government failed to rehabilitate it for us. You are our hope now, ” he demanded.
Touching on unemployment, the Chief said, “we have a vast land available. We can make it available for building factories to employ our youth. We also need streetlights. So, when you return to Accra, please add these requests to your priorities.
Another request we have is for you to see to the completion of the Agenda 111 projects started by the previous government.”
Responding to the requests, Mr Asiedu Nketia said, “I have heard all your challenges, and they will be addressed in due time. The reason why we have not been able to resolve some of these challenges is that the previous government did not manage the economy well. But we are in the process of resetting the country and all these issues will be resolved.”
He urged party faithful to remain united as the party commences restructuring towards the 2028 elections.
“I know we have a lot of NDC members in this district. What I need from you is unity as we go into the 2028 general elections. It is unfortunate that although you voted for President Mahama, you did not vote for our parliamentary candidate. I am pleading with you to change this practice going forward.
Those of you who are yet to benefit from our victory. let’s be patient. You worked hard for this victory. That’s why I am here to thank you. Let’s focus on retaining power. we have three more years, and my visit is to ensure that what remains to be done for the residents of this district is done,” he assured.
