Ghana Premier League champions FC Samartex were held to a 1-1 draw at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena by Bibiani Gold Stars in an outstanding game played on Wednesday, October 2.

It was one of two outstanding games played on the day. Asante Kotoko took on Nsoatreman FC in the other game.

The match was postponed as a result of the champions’ participation in the 2024/25 CAF Champions League qualifiers.

With their exit at the expense of Morocco’s Raja Casablanca, all was set for them to clear their outstanding domestic games.

Since their return to the local league, the champions have only won one match.

On Wednesday, playing in front of their home fans for only the second time this season, Emmanuel Mamah opened the scoring in the 28th minute.

What was going to be an easy game rather turned difficult as Kelvin Oppong cancelled the goal deep in the second half.

It ended 1-1.

FC Samartex, as a result of the score, lie 7th on the log with Gold Stars moving joint second with Asante Kotoko.

The Timber Giants will next play Karela United away while Gold Stars will welcome Bechem United to the Bibiani DUN’s Park on Sunday, October 6.
