Ghana Premier League champions FC Samartex clinched their first win in the 2024/25 season after beating Vision FC 2-1 at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena.
The game was only the second this season for the defending champions.
They had played a goalless draw against Dreams FC in their first GPL game at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, September 7.
Since then, they had made the sojourn to Africa in the CAF Champions League. They exited in the final round, losing 2-3 on aggregate to Raja Casablanca.
Therefore, Sunday’s match in front of their home fans was the first since they were crowned champions as they played their home games in the CAF Champions League in Accra.
An own goal by Edward Agyemang gave fans of the Timber Giants what they wanted, just before the break.
But after over 20 minutes of play upon resumption, first-half substitute Gideon Offei restored parity for the debutants, who appeared to be on their way to pulling a stunner at the fortress in Samreboi.
However, Michael Ephson clinched the winner for Nurudeen Amadu’s side just before regulation time.
The win gives the champions a total of four points so far with two outstanding games to be played.
One will be cleared on Wednesday, October 2 at their home grounds against Bibiani Gold Stars SC.
