Chelsea have announced a mutual agreement to part ways with manager Enzo Maresca.
In a statement issued on New Year’s Day, the club said both parties believe a change gives the team the best chance of getting the season back on track.
Maresca’s last game in charge of the Blues was a 2-2 draw with AFC Bournemouth.
That game on Tuesday came barely days after a 1-2 home loss to Aston Villa.
“During his time at the Club, Enzo led the team to success in the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup,” the club said on Thursday.
“Those achievements will remain an important part of the Club’s recent history, and we thank him for his contributions to the Club.”
It added: “With key objectives still to play for across four competitions including qualification for Champions League football, Enzo and the Club believe a change gives the team the best chance of getting the season back on track.
“We wish Enzo well for the future.”
Chelsea are currently 5th in the Premier League, 15 points behind leaders Arsenal.
Maresca joined Chelsea in 2024 from Leicester City.
