COCOBOD has increased the producer price of cocoa from GH¢41,392 to GH¢42,400 per tonne for the 2026/2027 cocoa season.
The new price takes effect from Friday, September 25, 2026, and represents 71.18% of the realised gross free-on-board (FOB) value of cocoa.
The increase translates into a producer price of GH¢2,650 per 64kg bag of cocoa.
The decision follows consultations among COCOBOD and other key stakeholders on the producer price and applicable rates and fees for the new cocoa season.
“COCOBOD and all the key stakeholders have approved that the producer price of cocoa be increased from GH¢41,392 per tonne to GH¢42,400 per tonne for the 2026/2027 cocoa season,” Chief Executive Officer of COCOBOD, Randy Abbey announced at a press conference on Friday.
The revised price is expected to apply to cocoa purchases from Friday, September 25.
Speaking at the press conference, COCOBOD Chief Executive Officer, Randy Abbey, said the price could be reviewed if market conditions and other relevant factors warrant such a decision.
“At every point in time, if there is a need for a review, the stakeholders will meet and look at that and it will not be a bonus or any other thing, it will be a review of the price,” he said.
Mr Abbey explained that any future review could result in either an upward adjustment or the decision to maintain the existing price, depending on the factors considered by stakeholders.
“If there are factors that suggest that we should do a review, we will look at it and review. Whether an upward review or it must stay the same, we will do it,” he added.
