Ghana’s education system requires a collapse and restructuring, Captain Smart has told stakeholders in the sector.
Comparing Ghana’s education to that of China, Europe and other places, he said Ghana’s own is nothing to write home about.
Speaking on Maakye Monday, August 29, 2022, the broadcaster indicated many of the things in Ghana’s educational curricular have outlived their usefulness, the reason it’ must be restructured.
According to him, a standardised test taken by class four pupils nationwide had only the Bono Region performing well, compared to the others.
He was livid things that do not add any value to pupils are still taught in school, advancing that an overhaul of the system, is the way to go.
“Education Minister, collapse the education system and restructure it. There are many things we teach in our schools that are of no use. Why do you teach a KKD the mother of Jesus and Mohammed? What benefit would that be to the child?
“The standardised text that was conducted for the primary four pupils, Greater Accra, Ashanti, Volta, Eastern, Central, Western, and all the regions performed poorly except the Bono Region who had a some good score,” he alleged.
