Captain Smart has said most Akan chiefs are not truthful despite being powerful.

His comment stems from the increasing galamsey activities on their lands which they have denied knowledge of.

Speaking on Onua TV/FM’s Maakye Monday, August 29, 2022, he said Otumfuo’s vilification of chiefs whose lands such activities are ongoing indicate the chiefs’ dishonesty on the galamsey menace in their communities.

He noted illegal mining is on the ascendency in the Ashanti, Western and Eastern Regions.

“Most Akan chiefs ain’t truthful. It is so dangerous to be an Akan in this country because most of the powerful chiefs in this country are Akans and they don’t speak the truth. Manso, Ahafo, Kenyasi are all there and people are doing galamsey.

“May the black stool kill any chief that has given lands for galamsey. Also, if the galamseyers had given you money, may the stool deal with you. There is so much galamsey in the Ashanti, Eastern and Western regions,” he noted.

“The Works and Housing ministry’s report says we might not get water by 2024. There are 814 communities in Ghana where galamsey is ongoing,” he added.
