The Executive Secretary of Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC), Beauty Emefa Narteh, is urging the government to use legal and constitutional framework to fight corruption in Ghana.

According to her, Ghana needs a holistic approach to fight corruption.

Speaking on Ghanakoma morning show on Akoma 87.9FM in Kumasi with Sir John, she said the setting up of an anti-corruption team by the incoming government for the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) adds to the mistrust Ghanaians have in the institutions fighting corruption in the country.

“What’s their sense of reference? Why not allowing state institutions fighting corruption be in charge?” she asked on Thursday, December 19, 2024.

She said most Ghanaians are losing trust in the systems and institutions that are supposed to deal with corruption to the extent that even when they witness corrupt practices they don’t feel confident to report same.

She bemoaned how people attain positions through other means either than meritocracy as a result of corruption.

“Because of corruption, people who do not have the requisite qualification are appointed to positions,” she stated.

She demanded from the government to up its game on fighting the canker by strengthening anti-corruption institutions and retooling them to bring culprits of the menace to book.

“We need to do a lot more to mitigate corruption,” she added.
