The Constitution Review Committee (CRC) has successfully concluded its nationwide zonal engagements, with the final session held in Kumasi on Friday, August 1, 2025.
These engagements formed a crucial part of the Committee’s public consultation process to gather views and proposals from Ghanaians towards the review of the 1992 Constitution.
In a statement issued on Monday, August 4 and signed by Secretary to Constitution Review Committee, Dr. Rainer Akumperigya the Committee said as part of its final steps in the public consultation phase, it will officially close all public engagements on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, following scheduled consultative sessions with the Council of State and the Trades Union Congress (TUC).
In light of this, CRC reminded the public and encouraged Ghanaians to take advantage of the remaining window to submit written memoranda to the Committee.
Submissions can be made electronically through the official CRC email: [email protected].
The Committee extended its profound gratitude to the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) for its invaluable partnership in organizing the zonal engagements.
The CRC also acknowledged “with deep appreciation, the support and participation of Chiefs, Tindaana, traditional leaders, Regional Ministers, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), and the general public whose contributions ensured the success of the engagements across the country.”
The Committee remains committed to a transparent, inclusive, and participatory constitutional review process that reflects the aspirations and collective will of the Ghanaian people.
The 8-member Committee chaired by Prof. H. Kwasi Prempeh was tasked with identifying gaps and challenges in the implementation of previous constitutional review efforts, engaging with stakeholders to gather diverse perspectives, and formulating actionable recommendations to strengthen Ghana’s democratic institutions and processes.
