The Executive Director of The Sanneh Institute, Prof. John Azumah, has added his voice to recent developments at Bawku, describing the Upper East region town as a “national security threat” after his one-week fact-finding visit to the area.

In a brief report put up by Professor Azumah after his survey, he cited the actions and inactions of the security forces backed by politicians as the cause of the time bomb the nation is sitting on.

He says the persisting injustice in the area will explode sooner than later for things to get out of hand, if care is not taken.

“It is these actions and inactions by the security forces, along with the culture of impunity and selective justice that pose a serious national security threat to Ghana. Not terrorist from Burkina Faso. When people are left with a sense of helplessness, grievance, selective justice and seething anger, they will take the law into their own hands. We are seeing this in Palestine, and I wouldn’t be surprised if hell breaks loose in Bawku,” portions of his brief report indicated.
