The Member of Parliament for Damongo, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has appealed to the youth of New Patriotic Party (NPP) to prepare for leadership and work towards returning to power in the 2028 general elections.
Speaking at a meeting with student leaders in Accra on Friday, May 15,2026, he expressed confidence that the NPP could return to government in 2028 if the party begins organising and mobilising early.
This is contained in a statement posted on his Facebook page on Saturday, May 16,2026.
The legislator wrote, “I had the privilege of engaging with TESCON leaders drawn from across the country at the 2026 Leadership Pipeline Initiative organized by Leadership House, where I shared a few reflections on the journey from campus leadership to national leadership.
My central message to the young leaders gathered was simple: leadership does not begin when one attains public office. It begins much earlier, often in ordinary spaces through service, intellectual curiosity, discipline, debate, and the consistent development of character.

He added that, “I encouraged the participants to take their preparation seriously, because national leadership ultimately demands far more than visibility or confidence. It requires competence, emotional maturity, intellectual depth, restraint, integrity, and the ability to make responsible decisions in the long-term interest of society.
I also reflected on the important transition from activism to responsibility, and the need for a different political culture, one grounded not in insults, hostility, or outrage, but in ideas, respectful engagement, discipline, and thoughtful leadership.”
Mr Jinapor noted that, “It was truly refreshing engaging with such thoughtful, energetic, and ambitious young people who remain passionate about the future of our country. I remain hopeful that, through unity of purpose, mutual respect, discipline, and a renewed sense of collective responsibility, our Party will continue to grow stronger and position itself firmly for victory in 2028.”
