Deputy Minister of Justice and Attorney-General, Justice Srem-Sai, has stated that the raid on the residence of the immediate past Governor of the Bank of Ghana was conducted within the bounds of the law.

He says the committee followed all the legal processes with the requisite warrant before ransacking the home of the former Bank of Ghana Governor.

The home of Dr. Ernest Addison was raided by a group of armed men belonging to the National Security on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.

A section of Ghanaians, following the act, have criticised the National Security operatives. On the same day, journalist Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah was reportedly arrested and later released.

Additionally, on February 11, 2025, security personnel allegedly searched the residence of former Finance Minister Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta.

The developments, is what has been criticised by the Minority in Parliament, condemning and describing them as politically motivated operations.

But speaking to journalists in Accra Thursday, March 20, 2025, the Deputy A-G, Srem Sai, explained that the raid was carried out with proper legal authorisation.

According to him, proper warrants were issued to the team to carry out all of its raids which is in line with law and proper practice.

“We take responsibility for the search that happened. We want to make it clear that those searches and the mode in which they were done were in accordance with the law. Warrants were procured and used,” he stated.
