The Bryan Acheampong campaign team has reacted to a press conference organised by some youth members of the Bawumia campaign team.

In the said press statement issued by the constituency organisers of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, they blamed the former Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, for causing the party’s defeat in the last election.

The 62 constituency and polling station organisers of the NPP cited an attempt by the Abetifi lawmaker to acquire the SSNIT Hotels which received a massive public backlash, manifesting in voters’ decision during last year’s polls.

“The attempted acquisition of majority shares in SSNIT hotels by Dr Bryan Acheampong while serving as a Minister of State constituted a serious breach of public trust and a major contributing factor to our defeat” Part of the statement read.

The organisers claimed that the act alone caused the then ruling party as contributors to SSNIT not only voted against the NPP but also embarked on a campaign to ensure the NPP lost the election.

They also claimed, Dr Bryan Acheampong mismanaged the Agric ministry. “Under Dr Acheampong’s supervision as Minister for Food and Agriculture, the activities and needs of our rural farmers-the backbone of our economy and a core constituent-were not properly managed.”

Another issue they raised was the Abetifi lawmaker’s pre-election posture, which only created tension in the country. “Dr Acheampong’s infamous public statement suggesting that the NPP would not hand over power after the December 2024 elections was reckless, irresponsible, and dangerously undemocratic.”

Reacting to the development, the Bryan Acheampong campaign team says the statement issued by the Bawumia campaign camp “was laced with unfortunate insults and baseless accusations against the person of Hon. Dr. Bryan Acheampong.”

The team also issued a counter-statement same day, where it advised its supporters to refrain from retaliating in an equal manner, citing the aspirant’s recent meeting with former President Akufo-Addo as a reason not to respond.

“We urge all our supporters nationwide to do the same — do not engage, do not respond, and do not return insults.

“Our focus remains on engaging delegates with respect, advancing ideas that strengthen the NPP, and preparing the party for decisive victory in 2028,” the statement added.
