The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has advised the running to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, to humble himself and submit to him as he partners him to seek the highest office of the land come December.
He gave the advice at a mini durbar at the Manhyia Palace Tuesday, July 09, 2024, when President Akufo-Addo introduced both the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and his running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, to him.
According to the Asantehene whom the Energy Minister, also known as Nana Poku (NAPO) is related to, the Manhyia South lawmaker was not arrogant when he was being nurtured at home. However, he is now hearing that he is arrogant, and advised that he doesn’t let what people have been saying come to pass.
The Asantehene noted that although he advised him in closed doors, it was important to reiterate what he said in there in public in order to appreciate the enormity of the advice.
“Follow him with humility. Do what he will tell you. A lot of people are saying you are arrogant but you were not like that at home. So don’t let what they have been saying be confirmed,” the Asantehene advised.
He also counseled Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to take care of him and report to him whenever he goes astray, so that he Otumfuo will rebuke him himself.
“Bawumia, I have given you my grandchild, if he goes astray, let me know and I will reproach him myself in closed doors,” he added.
