Member of Parliament-elect for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Setor Dumelo, has lost his father, Engineer John William Kudzo Anato-Dumelo Snr., just days before his swearing-in as a Member of Parliament.The actor cum politician has thus, hared a heartfelt tribute to his late father.In a post on his X, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP-elect shared that he was told through a phone call that his father was not responding moments after having a conversation with him.

Dumelo had said that his 75-year-old father was not just a parent but his “best friend” and “number 1 cheerleader.”

According to him, they had spent the previous day speaking on issues relating to politics, farming, business, and even some gossip.

He said he was told his father had died the time he rushed to the hospital. The actor in his tribute expressed gratitude to the old man for the guidance, love and support given him throughout his life.

“Thanks for being my father, thanks for being my best friend, thanks for being my number 1 cheerleader and thanks for everything you did for me,” wrote the MP-elect.

He also extended a heartfelt message to his mother who died in August last year, saying, “Say hi to mum for us all… we will miss you. Rest in perfect peace.”

The loss comes at a critical time as Dumelo is set to be sworn in as an MP in the coming days, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his political career.

The actor recently defeated the incumbent MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Lydia Seyram Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the recently-held elections on Saturday, December 07, 2024.
