The Akyem Abomosu Police Command has arrested nine (9) suspects for engaging in narcotics drugs, Indian hemp, trading and prostitution in the Atiwa West district of the Eastern region.
The suspects arrested at Abomosu included three Nigerian females and six Ghanaian males.
They were arrested for soliciting and trading in narcotics drugs and prostitution, during an operation carried out in Akyem Abomosu led by FPU Commander ASP Seth Ehuren.
According to ASP Ehuren, the arrest followed a targeted swoop on locations believed to be hotshots for narcotics drugs and prostitution activities within the Abomosu community.
Items believed to be connected to their illicit activities were retrieved during the operation. The suspects will be presented before the Osino Magistrate Court tomorrow, Friday, July 17, 2026, for prosecution.
Asonahene of Akyem Abomosu, Nana Kofi Agyei, said the Atiwa district police operation forms part of ongoing efforts to curb prostitution and other related social vices in the area, and police upholding their integrity and intensifying efforts against narcotics drugs, trafficking syndicates in the area.
