Residents of Akpo have made a passionate appeal for rehabilitation of their road.
Akpo is a farming community with over two thousand residents in the Yilo Krobo Municipality that grow farm produce in large quantities.
They grow crops like cabbage, yam, cassava, plantain, banana, cocoyam and garden egg among others.
During the harvesting season, traders across the country come there to do business. However, the road leading to the community has become deplorable, making it unmotorable.
A visit to some of the farms show that the farm produce are near harvest, however, the road is not pliable to enable the farmers cart the produce to the market. This always results in post-harvest losses.

The community which is a few kilometres from the Huhunya Police Training Centre, has no access to potable water, telecommunication network, and efficient and effective health facility.
Furthermore, the only source of water in the community is a stream which is a kilometre walk from the community. In an interview with Onuaonline during a visit to the Community on June 8.
The Assembly man for Akpo Electoral Area, Mr. John Akuffo appealed to the government through the MCE, Mr. Francis Addo Akumatey, the MP for Yilo Krobo, Dr. Albert Tetteh Nyakotey and the Eastern Regional Minister, Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey to come to their aid to help refurbish the road leading to the community to promote profitable farming activities in the area.
The opinion leaders and Dadematseme of Akpo Bunase, Mr. Alfred Teye Hogah, noted that their follow-up to the Municipal Assembly revealed that the road has been awarded to a contractor, however no activity is ongoing on the road.
He reiterated that the community, took it upon themselves to rehabilitate the road manually. However, the stage they have reached requires government intervention.
Some community members who also spoke to Onuaonline said they have secured a vast land for the establishment of a market centre and are appealing to the government to help them in that manner.
They also appealed to any interested local or foreign investor to establish a factory or company in the area to eradicate post-harvest losses and curb the unemployment situation to come to their aid.
