The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has embarked on preventive maintenance along the Eastern corridor of the Ashanti region as part of its Annual Maintenance Plan (AMP).

This move is aimed at strengthening service delivery, improving network resilience, and minimizing power disruptions for communities across the region.

‎The exercise, which was started on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, focused on the Akyawkrom Substation, a key hub supplying electricity to towns such as Ejisu, Juaben, Kumawu, Effiduase, Nsuta-Mampong, Bekwai, and surrounding areas.

‎Through preventive maintenance, the ECG aims to:

  • Reduce unplanned outages by addressing faults before they affect customers.
  • ‎Improve voltage quality to protect sensitive equipment like hospital machinery and industrial equipment.
  • Strengthen safety for both staff and communities.
  • Preserve critical infrastructure, ensuring long-term reliability of the power network.

The swift completion of the exercise drew commendation from the Acting Director of Operations, Ing. Ibrahim Yakubu, who remarked: “Thanks for the great work done. Kindly extend our appreciation and gratitude to your team for their sacrifices.”

‎ECG remains steadfast in providing quality, safe, and reliable electricity to the people of Ashanti.
