The Ministry of Education has commended teachers across Ghana for their dedication and contribution to the country’s education system as Ghana joins the global community to mark World Teachers’ Day 2026.
In a statement, the Ministry described teachers as being “at the heart of Ghana’s education system,” noting their important role in shaping the minds, character and future of children across the country.
The Ministry particularly recognised teachers working in deprived and hard-to-reach communities, acknowledging their dedication, professionalism and sacrifices in providing education under challenging circumstances.
“Teachers remain at the heart of Ghana’s education system and play a critical role in shaping the minds, character and future of our children,” the Ministry said.
According to the Ministry, the government, through the education sector, remains committed to an education transformation agenda that goes beyond expanding access to education to focus on quality, learning outcomes, relevant skills and human capital development.
The Ministry stressed that teachers would remain central to the success of ongoing and future education reforms.
“We recognise that no education reform can succeed without teachers,” it said, adding that it would continue to work with teachers, their unions and other stakeholders to strengthen the teaching profession.
The Ministry also pledged continued attention to professional development, as well as issues affecting teachers’ welfare and working conditions.
It called on parents, communities and Ghanaians in general to appreciate and support teachers, whose contribution, it said, remains fundamental to the country’s development.
“Thank you for your dedication. Thank you for your sacrifice. Thank you for shaping Ghana’s future,” the Ministry said in its message to teachers.
The statement was signed by the Ministry’s Public Affairs Unit.
The Ministry concluded by extending its best wishes to teachers across the country on the occasion, saying: “Happy World Teacher’s Day!”
