Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, an independent parliamentary candidate for the Ejisu by-election says the Vice President and flag bearer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) is frustrated.

He says Dr. Bawumia’s comments about him switching allegiance to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is stemming out of the efforts he (Aduomi) exerted in his campaign which has left the entire party frustrated.

In a telephone interview with Yaa Titi on Onua TV’s morning  show, Maakye, Tuesday, April 30, 2024, Mr. Aduomi stated that his good works as a former MP are paving the grounds for him and he is confident that the propaganda of the party will not change what the constituents have decided.

His comments follow a statement from Dr. Bawumia on the occasion of the party’s last rally ahead of the by-election that the NDC failed to field a candidate because they are behind Aduomi.

“I am doing my campaign with my own efforts. They have been distributing money but has anyone seen me sharing me? Bawumia is frustrated. The effort I have put up in this campaign has rendered the NPP frustrated that’s why they are making such allegations.

“They cannot influence the people with their words because my good works, humility and relationship with the people is what the people will consider in their choice. For three years now, all the projects I started have been abandoned so they should stop making those utterances because they are grown ups,” he counseled.

Mr. Aduomi also described as laughable, the Vice President’s description of him as an NDC faithful.

“If he says this everyone will laugh at him because I have been an MP for three terms so if today he mounts podium to say Aduomi is an NDC, then it is up to him. When I was an MP, didn’t I do anything to help the NPP? It is God who has helped him to be where he is because we supported the party with our sweat and blood so if he calls me an NDC today, it is up to him,” he complained.

The Electoral Commission (EC) is conducting the by-election for the Ejisu constituency today, Tuesday, April 30, to fill the vacant seat left by the late Member of Parliament (MP) and Deputy Finance Minister, Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah, who passed away on March 07, 2024.

The NPP selected Kwabena Boateng on April 13, 2024, from a pool of nine contenders to vie for the seat and uphold the party’s position.

However, the opposition NDC opted out of participating in the by-election.

Kwabena Boateng faces formidable opposition from former constituency MP, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, who is running independently after parting ways with the NPP.
