Ghana’s 4 by 100m men’s relay team over the weekend made a time of 39.71s to finish second in the Penn Relays held at the Franklin Field in Philadelphia.

It was a chance for Ghana to earn a spot at the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris, France.

However, the team failed to make it.

Jamaica won the race with a time of 39.59s with Ghana coming second.

Joseph Manu, Joseph Paul Amoah, Ibrahim Fuseini and Barnabas Aggerh formed the quartet for the race.

The team from Garden State Track Club finished third in a time of 40.14s.

Ghana would have to compete at the upcoming World Athletics Relays Championships in Bahamas this weekend in order to seek qualification to the Olympics, which starts in July.

In the other disciplines, high jumper Vashti Cunningham won her event at the expense of compatriot, Sanaa Barnes.

Spain also won the women’s relays finishing in 43.91s ahead of the Jamaican quartet, who made 44.11.

Jamaica also added the men’s 400m with Karayme Bartley and Leah Anderson coming 2nd and 3rd respectively.
