Kwabena Owusu Aduomi has called the bluff of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over its calls to terminate his membership from the party.

The former NPP MP who is running independently in the ongoing by-election in Ejisu says nobody has served him any notice of expulsion from the party either on paper or by word.

He recalled how he has supported the party as an MP and still supported them even when he was no more in Parliament, saying it is not the NPP that takes care of him.

Reacting to the General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong’s comment over his automatic expulsion from the party per their regulations, Mr. Aduomi told Yaa Titi on Onua TV’s morning show, Maakye, that he would not be perturbed by the actions of the NPP since their intentions of influencing him with money to step down from the race hit a snag.

“I have not been served any letter, neither have I been told that they are done with me. People say anything they want during elections. If the NPP says they are done with me and so what? Is it the NPP that takes care of me? I rather supported the party with my money, strength and wisdom. I was still working to support the party whilst I wasn’t in office. There are many projects being undertaken by my contractor in support of the party to break their so-called 8 so if they say they are done with me, I don’t care.

“Nobody can influence me that’s why I didn’t give in for the plenty money they enticed me with. Politics, according to my understanding, is seeking the well-being of the people so my priority is for me to serve my people,” he said in Twi Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

The Electoral Commission (EC) is conducting the by-election for the Ejisu constituency today, Tuesday, April 30, to fill the vacant seat left by the late Member of Parliament (MP) and Deputy Finance Minister, Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah, who passed away on March 07, 2024.

The NPP selected Kwabena Boateng on April 13, 2024, from a pool of nine contenders to vie for the seat and uphold the party’s position.

However, the opposition NDC opted out of participating in the by-election.

Kwabena Boateng faces formidable opposition from former constituency MP, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, who is running independently after parting ways with the NPP.
