The Member of Parliament for Bimbilla, Dominic Bingab Aduna Nitiwul, has asked the vetting committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the constituency to allow Alhaji Nuhu Zaruk contest him in the party’s parliamentary primary.

The MP who is also the Minister of Defence was accused by a section of the youth in the constituency that he orchestrated the expunction of the name of one Alhaji Nuhu Zaruk from the party’s vetting list to make him go unopposed.

The aggrieved youth, on the evening of Tuesday, January 02, 2024, stormed the party’s office to demand reasons for the removal of their candidate’s name from the vetting list and threatened to set up the party’s office in flames if Alhaji Zaruk’s name is not restored.

They vandalised the office, burnt tyres and pelted stones which took the intervention of the military to restore order at the place.

However, the MP has asked that the man be allowed to contest him so that he uses him to teach the National Democratic Congress (NDC) a lesson in the December polls.

According to Nitiwul, he will defeat his contender in the manner he will defeat the NDC candidate, making the internal election not a contest for him. He says his preoccupation is rather to ensure the party’s flag bearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, wins the polls to become President.

“My preoccupation is to get the Vice President elected as President. But told the appeals committee to get the forms back to the gentleman who is seeking to contest me to go back to Bimbilla and complete his forms. I will use him to tell the NDC what I will do to him in 2024 so he should be allowed to contest me,” he said.
