Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Musah Dankwah, has said it will be impossible for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to achieve its targeted 85% votes in the Ashanti region come December 07.

He says for that to happen, unless John Mahama and Alan Kyerematen’s candidacy are collapsed for their votes to be added to Bawumia in order to attain that percentage.

Speaking on TV3’s Ghana Tonight Tuesday, September 03, 2024, on his outfit’s recent poll conducted in the region, Mr. Dankwah stated that the percentage of votes the NDC is commanding in the region now, coupled with that of Alan Kyerematen will be a worry to the NPP.

He says the main opposition party’s percentage is from persons who are die-hard supporters of the party and would vote for Mahama come what may.

When host, Alfred Ocansey, asked if the ruling party’s 85% target is achievable, Musah Dankwah said: “Absolutely not. It is not an achievable target.”

“If you look at the current poll we just did, Dr. Bawumia is on 67%, Mahama on 28%, Alan on 3%, Bediako 1% and the rest of the candidates 1%. Look at the numbers now, 67, compared to 85, it’s way [too wide],” he explained.

Mr. Dankwah continued that for the NPP to even achieve 80% of votes in the Ashanti region, Mahama and Alan should be out of the race totally.

“For them to even hit 80%, they need Mahama and Alan to collapse totally in the region and we know that will not happen because Mahama’s numbers are solid. They are core NDC people who come what may, they will come and vote. Those who are not willing to vote in the region are mostly NPP voters,” he added.

The comments come on the back of the NPP’s call to electorates in the Ashanti region to give them 85% of the votes in order to secure victory in the upcoming polls.

During the unveiling of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital, he called on the residents during his speech to get them 85% of the votes in December.
